Ryan Dunn of “Jackass” fame dies in fiery crash

According to CNN News Reports, Ryan Dunn, most famously known for his stints on the popular “Jackass” films and television show, was killed in Pennsylvania early Monday morning. Ryan Dunn had become a star through the MTV series which featured him and other cast members performing dangerous stunts.

Police arrived on the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday morning. According to police reports, “Upon arrival, police located one vehicle off the road and in the woods that was fully engulfed in flames.” Police believe excessive speed may have contributed to the car accident, but the investigation to determine the cause of the accident is in the preliminary stages.

Reports confirm that Ryan Dunn was drinking just hours before the wreck. Twitter accounts show him with a beer in hand, and the manager, Jim O’Brien, of Barnaby’s Bar, which is approximately a mile from the accident in West Chester, Pennsylvania, confirms Dunn was at the bar Monday night.

O’Brien confirmed that Dunn frequented the bar but commented that Ryan did not appear to be a “hardcore drinker” and according to O’Brian, “Ryan did not seem to be intoxicated at the time he left.” He added, “He was a valuable person in our community and his death is a tragedy. He will be missed.”

Johnny Knoxville, a friend of Ryan Dunn, tweeted Monday morning, “Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan, I love you buddy.” MTV also issued a statement early Monday stating that they were saddened by the passing of Ryan and that their hearts and thoughts were with his family.

Although we do not know for sure if alcohol was a contributing factor to Ryan Dunn’s death, we do know that driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs kills thousands of drivers each year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 40 percent of total traffic deaths are due to drunk driving.

Statistics are even more staggering for young men. According to the NHTSA, up to half of all teenage deaths are caused by drunken driving, and males are more likely than females to drive under the influence of alcohol. It is estimated that up to 81% of drunk drivers are male.

Hiring a DUI lawyer

DUI lawyers can help drivers who have been arrested for DUI, have either had their license suspended through an administrative license suspension or who have been charged with DUI and need to fight the charges.

It is illegal in every state to drive with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher. Drivers, even first time DUI offenders, may face severe DUI penalties including: high fines, mandatory drug or alcohol education classes, jail time, probation, and mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device.

If you have been arrested for DUI, do not fight the charges alone. Find a DUI attorney in your area who understands DUI law and can make sure you have a solid defense.
