In a sad story of life reflecting art, actor Paul Walker, reportedly died Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in Santa Clarita. The actor was 40.
Paul Walker, best known for his starring role in the Fast and Furious film franchise reportedly was a passenger in a red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when it hit a tree and light pole and ignited into flames.
The crash, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. in the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia, set the car on fire fully engulfing it in flames by the time officials arrived at the scene. The fire department attempted to put out the flames but both Paul Walker and another victim were dead on arrival. Other friends at bystanders at the scene also attempted to extinguish the flames after the accident.
According to officials, the cause of the accident is not yet known, and officials do not know if alcohol or drugs were involved.
Who is Paul Walker?
Paul Walker was bornin Glendale, California, on September 12, 1973. He began acting early in life appearing in shows such as Charles in Charge, Highway to Heaven, Touched by an Angel, and Diffrent Strokes. He also had a short stint in the soap opera The Young and the Restless. His most famous role, however, was playing Brian OConner, in 2001 in Fast and Furious. He also has appeared in other movies such as Eight Below, Flags of our Fathers, Varsity Blues and Shes all That.
He continued his work in the Fast and Furious franchise with an additional six sequels. The next installment for the hit movie was expected to be released in July 2014. There is no confirmation about whether Paul Walker had completed his role for the new film. His next film, Hours was also expected to be released before Christmas.
Walker enjoyed his fame. He liked nice cars and had two homes in California. He also helped with several charity groups, most recently to raise money for victims in the Philippines. He also was involved in getting needy children gifts for the holidays.
Paul Walker has one daughter named Meadow Rain who was born in November 1999. Paul Walker was not married.
Officials are not ready to comment on the cause of the accident, although they do believe that speed could have been a factor.
Although drunk driving is frequently the cause of automobile deaths, even if Walker was not intoxicated, Paul Walkers death is a warning to all drivers that whether its alcohol, speeding, or distracted driving while texting or surfing the web, its important to slow down and pay attention while operating your vehicle.
