CNN reportsComedic actor Chris Kattan was arrested early Monday morning on a Los Angeles freeway and charged with driving under the influence or DUI after his car hit a highway construction truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol spokesman, there were no workers in the truck at the time of the incident, but Chris Kattan, 43, suffered a bloody nose in the car accident. According to reports from the scene the accident could have been much worse.
Police also report that Chris Kattan, a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, did submit to a field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was later taken to the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys precinct. At the precinct, Chris Kattan was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. The drugs have yet to be identified by police.
Kattans accident occurred on the Ventura Freeway when Kattan, who was driving his black 2011 Mercedes, ran into the truck of a California Department of Transportation crewman who was conducting maintenance on the guardrail. The crew was working on the road just before the 2 a.m. accident. Other than Chris Kattan, no other injuries were reported.
Prior to the accident, the California Highway Patrol reported the Mercedes which Chris Kattan was driving was seen weaving in and out of lanes.
Who is Chris Kattan?
Chris Kattan, born inSherman Oaks, California, is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live. He was part of the Butabi Brothers with Will Farrell. The comic duo also reprised their popular role as characters in the movie A Night at the Roxbury.
Kattan got his start in show businesses as part of the improve comedy troupe The Groundlings which worked primarily in Los Angeles. He also appeared in minor television roles in NewRadio.
Later Chris Kattan moved to New York City where he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. He worked on SNL from 1996 to 2003, popularizing a wide array of characters including Mr. Peepers, Mango and Azrael Abyss. In 2011, Chris Kattan also made a guest appearance on an SNL Christmas special hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
He was briefly married to model Sunshine Deia Tutt on June 28, 2008, in California. The couple separated after a few short months of marriage and was officially divorced in February 2009.
Woman kills Six in DUI crash
In other DUI news, a 21 year-old woman faces criminal charges after she killed six people in a DUI accident. According to reports,Olivia Carolee Culbreath is accused of driving a red Chevrolet Camaro the wrong way on an L.A. freeway under the influence of alcohol.
Culbreath crashed her car head-on into two other cars and killed a family of four and two other people. A total of five women and one man were killed, officials said.
According to reports, Culbreath was driving over 100 miles per hour. She has been hospitalized in stable condition with a broken femur and a ruptured bladder. Culbreath could be facing felony DUI charges and vehicular manslaughter charges.
