Definition of Witness

Witnesses can be any individual who is willing to testify at a DUI trial. Every DUI case will have at least one witness and that is the arresting officer. Another type of witness is the civilian witness who for may come forward to testify for either the defense or the prosecution. The civilian witness can be especially powerful because they are not part of the justice system. Other witnesses in a DUI trial can include any of the following:

  • Detention workers
  • Breath test administrators
  • Phlebotomists
  • All medical personnel
  • Forensic scientists
  • Victims
  • Bartenders
  • Character witness
  • Passenger
  • Another driver
  • Cab drivers
