is it possible to reinstate a permanent revocation of fl drivers license?
The State of Florida, effective October 1, 2010, updated their state’s laws for a lifetime revocation for habitual DUI offenders which made reinstatement impossible.
Starting in 2011, Florida drivers who have had their license permanently revoked, because of four or more DUI convictions, can apply for reinstatement after 5 years.
How can you reinstate your license? There are several prerequisites:
1. You must be drug free for five years before hearing
2. You must not have been arrested for a drug-related offense for five years before application
3. You cannot have driven a motor vehicle for 5 years before hearing
4. You must have completed a DUI education program
After your Florida license reinstatement you may also be required to install an Ignition Interlock device for at least 5 years and you may be restricted to driving for employment purposes for at least 1 year. In addition, the state may require you to attend a DUI program.
